A Taste That Brings You Back: Emerald City Fish & Chips

Some places you try once.

Some places you keep coming back to.

Emerald City Fish & Chips is the second kind.

Right in the heart of Rainier Valley, this spot has been serving up bold, Southern-inspired seafood with a Pacific Northwest twist since 2009. But what makes it special isn’t just the food. It’s the story behind it.

Owner Stevie Allen opened the doors the day after Christmas, building something rooted in tradition. The recipes come from his Southern-raised grandmother, bringing that real flavor, real seasoning, and real care into every plate.

And you can taste it.

From crispy Alaskan cod and halibut to catfish and salmon, everything is cooked to order and seasoned the way it’s supposed to be. The kind of food that’s hot, fresh, and hits every time.

But it doesn’t stop at fish.

The crab puppies have just the right kick. The sweet potato fries paired with spicy tartar and garlic vinegar are a whole experience. Add in po’boys, oysters, prawns, chowder, and even gourmet burgers, and you’ve got a menu that doesn’t miss.

It’s the kind of place where you already know what you’re getting before you walk in.

Good food. Real flavor. No shortcuts.

Located on Rainier Avenue with easy access from I-5 and I-90, Emerald City Fish & Chips has become a go-to for locals and visitors alike. Open seven days a week, it’s more than a restaurant. It’s part of the neighborhood.
